Anyone want to shed a few pounds? I thought that might grab your attention. Here it is the real secret to losing some excess weight. I had a chance to sample and review “Appetite for Reduction” cookbook and was pleasantly surprised to see that 1. I loved the recipes and 2. how good all the food used in the recipes was for you.


All the recipes are plant based which means they are low in fat with lots of nutrients. I started with one recipe, “Everyday Chickpea – Quinoa Salad with Balsamic vinaigrette.” It was delicious and so healthy. My husband really enjoyed it as well! I generally use olive oil to make my vinaigrette however the recipe suggests to use cashews nuts giving you a boost of protein that would not of been there. (Every little bit helps). Since I really enjoyed this last one, the next day I tried “Wild rice salad with oranges and roasted beets and a Orange- Sesame vinaigrette.” This one was even nicer than the last once only because I love beets and oranges. I did use the orange juice from a couple of oranges for the sesame vinaigrette but forgot to add the orange pieces into the salad. The toasted sesame seeds added a nutty flavour and if you love nuts then I highly recommend this nutty flavourful recipe. 230 calories / serving. My husband also enjoyed this dish.


Since I was on a roll and was enjoying the cookbook I continued for the rest of the week to make recipes from Isa Chandra Moskowitz 125 fast and filling low fat vegan recipes. Isa also has 5 other vegan cookbooks. I really never thought I would enjoy vegan food as much as I have this week. I must admit it did make me feel a lot better. I don’t think I can cut out my meat completely nonetheless I’ll continue to cook recipes out of Appetite for Reduction and continue to feel great throughout the summer! Or as Isa Chandra Moskowitz states “Cooking with real food for real life – drop dead delicious.”
