Review of Metro's Irresistible Holiday Brand Treats 2011

Review of Metro’s Irresistible Holiday Brand Treats 2011

I confirm it’s truly possible to receive heavenly treats in the mail! While my husband works from an office downtown, I work from my office at home which is oh so deviously convenient. Did I say deviously, I meant to say deliciously convenient. What is one to do when your receive “Irresistible Le Chocolate made from Whole Hazelnut Swiss Milk Chocolate” in the mail. What every pregnant women would do, taste test the Swiss Hazelnut Chocolate!

I was kind and left plenty to share with my husband although he did grumble when this last piece in the photo was left after a week. He said “thanks for leaving some for me,” sarcastically of course.  Well my answer to that one was “you knew it was in the fridge just help yourself next time!”

Metro has provide Grocery Alerts with some holiday treats to taste test. The products we received where:

  • Irresistible Whole Hazelnut Swiss Milk Chocolate
  • Irresistible Scottish Shortbread,
  • Irresistible Chocolate pecan clusters,
  • Irresistible Maple syrup,
  • Irresistible Balsamic vinegar,
  • Irresistible Rosemary raisin almond crisps and crackers.

The first product Irresistible Le Chocolate made from Whole Hazelnut Swiss Milk Chocolate passed with five plus star rating! It was like Nutella but as a chocolate bar. If you haven’t tried the Hazelnut Swiss Chocolate bar and you are not allergic to nuts, do yourself a favour and buy it. You will not be disappointed and if you are I’ll gladly take it off your hands. It is however milk chocolate so if you don’t generally eat milk chocolate you may find it sweet.

If you are not a chocolate lover there is the Irresistible Scottish Shortbread, crispy and buttery. I found them a little salty not so sweet however I think shortbread should be a little salt rather than sweet. I brought them to a friends birthday that thought I made them, she loved them but I didn’t end up taking the credit instead I directed her to where to she could buy the Shortbread because she is a Shortbread lover.

I am a chocolate lover so without a doubt the Irresistible Chocolate Pecan Clusters were at the top of my list too. The Chocolate Pecan Clusters have crunchy pecans covered in caramel then coated in chocolate. The only thing with the pecan clusters, is that you need to brush your teeth straight after eating one because the caramel tends to stick on and around your back teeth. It is a perfect gift for a friend.

When it comes to maple syrup we can be incredibly fussy after all we live in Canada and have access to 100% pure maple syrup. Irresistible Maple Syrup is made from 100% pure Canadian maple syrup and it fits the standards. Of course it also comes from Quebec as  all the premium Canadian maple syrup do. I love when you turn to the bottle of an item to read the ingredients and it says INGREDIENT 100% maple syrup. Which also means 100% satisfaction.

Enough sweets it’s time to tell you about the savory. Irresistible Rosemary raisin almond crisps and crackers are the perfect snack. Alternatively you can serve them as an appetizer or crunch them up an put them into your soup as I did. The rosemary flavour is strong but not potent, along with the sweet raisins it is a great mix. These crackers are ideal to serve during the festive season with so much flavour and texture. These are delicious and can be eaten on their own they are so good. The Irresistible Assorted cheese crackers box lets you sample various sweet, herb and savory crackers.

The last treat we received was the Irresistible Balsamic Vinegar aged and imported from Italy. It was thick not runny like most Balsamic Vinegars we have recently tried. You definitely don’t need a lot because it’s thick consistency brings out the sharpness in the balsamic vinegar. It’s premium balsamic vinegar so I’ll be using this 250ml bottle wisely and only on nice whole foods.

I guess the brand Irresistible made by Metro does live up to it’s name. All the products were irresistible, the chocolate was obviously my favorite but that is because I love chocolate. If you are thinking of entertaining and need to grab a few items keep these irresistible treats in mind. There is more than one reason they are labeled Irresistible.
