I had some leftover lobster shells and was inspired to turn them into a special lobster broth because of the cost of these little critters. It’s not every day you get the opportunity to have lobster broth handy in the freezer ready for a winter chowder base or an appetizing risotto. I quickly grabbed the remaining leftover lobster shells and turned them into a lobster broth by sauteing onions, celery and carrots and garlic and adding the lobster shells to boil.
With food prices increasing we cannot afford to throw away food! Creating new meals out of leftovers or into useful items from certain things you would generally discard is easy and much tastier than you might think!
Not knowing the cost of lobster broth at that point, I was just grateful to have the chance to scoop up the leftover shells for the broth. I was surprise to later find out that I just turned waste into $20 worth of lobster broth.
A 443 ml can of lobster broth generally sells for approx $3.50 on Amazon. I managed to make approx. 3.5L of lobster broth from 3 lobsters.

Next time you are faced with any shells, bones or leftovers turn it a broth for other meals. These broths are extremely healthy with no additives or preservatives and especially tasty. You will never want to buy packaged broth again!
