I love to share free resources that help all our readers save money.
Leanne Brown, a student in Food Studies at New York University has created a nice resource that shares recipes for meals that cost under $4 . Most recipes are quite basic but I think this is a good resource for anyone looking for a few extra frugal meals in their household as well as any university students starting out.
These recipes are designed for the budget of people on SNAP (the US
program that used to be called Food Stamps). The meals are generally
healthy and use ingredients common to most low-income New York
City neighborhoods. More than in most cookbooks, the recipes are
flexible and encourage substitution based on availability, taste, and price.
The book is licensed under Creative Commons, so you can download it for free and pass it along to anyone you know who needs some cheap, tasty meals.
I love what she has done and many of the recipes are simple so you won’t find lobster or steak or any fancy truffle oil but they all look great!
