I still do not understand what they mean by photocopy. There is no way for them to know what is a photocopy. In my opinion, it is a very poor way of accepting coupons. It is very unclear.
This needs a followup.

I had intended to purchase a number of items at Zellers and use coupons on all items as well. When checking out, I was told they only accept a limit of 6 coupons to use per day. They wouldn’t even do a second transaction. Needless to say, my purchase of 20 items dropped to only a purchase of 6 items. I was very disappointed.
Unusual – I’ve never had any issues with the amount of coupons I could use at Zellers. Occasionally they have refused my online printable coupon however never the amount of coupons.
I’ve actually starting keeping my coupon policy’s for the grocery stores I go to on a regular basis in my coupon book. That way when I go to the grocery store and if I get refused to use a particular coupon, I can pull it out and say – “Your coupon policy says I can!”
Honestly I don’t know why we should even bother with Zellers at all. Every time I have visited the store they were unorganized, did not carry a good selection, took a long time to check out or return things and priced higher than Wal-Mart. I am all for supporting Canadian businesses however if they don’t change their views in dealing with customers and be more competitive with their prices and selection they would slowly but surly be out of business soon.
We don’t live in 70’s or 80’s anymore, everyone has so many places to choose and purchase from. They should be able to adjust with time, and get rid of their silly point system. You need to collect like billion points to cash in for a gum.
That is so true.. Zellers checkout is extremely slow. Nonetheless they have been bought out by a large American Company recently and I would imagine things to change for Zellers in the near future.
I once waited in line for a customer to fill out a Zellers credit card application so she could purchase her goods on the Zellers store credit card. Talk about slow and unpractical.
There is no way to tell a photo copy from an original and it doesn’t matter or shouldn’t matter if the coupon is in colour or black and white because you may have a colour printer and are out of colour ink so had to print in black and white or you just chose to print in black and white because it is cheaper. The only thing that I can think of that they may not accept it, is if you are giving them several coupons of the same thing. However that doesn’t mean a photo copy either because you may have chose to print the coupon several times. I have given several copies of the same coupon to various stores at the same time without a problem including Zellers!
That is a strange policy. I recommend to everyone that they print this off when attempting to redeem printable coupons.
I had staff at zellers reject that free natural defense dog food coupon. The store gm has an email on all receipts, from experience I knew he never responds. So I emailed him an copied some hbc execs…and he responded
He said someone else had tried to use the coupon and he told the cashier I had to not take it because it was a photocopy. He said I could come back while he was there and he would look at it and decide if he'd take it. I declined while pointing out it would be no problem elsewhere.
I also pointed out that since the coupon was still available to print on the manufacturer website by just putting in a different email why would anyone copy it? I also pointed out I printed it in b&w on and all in one printer, so I could copy it with the same machine and it would be identical in every way. he didnt respond further.
Tried calling zellers 1-800 which was completely useless
I suspect the problem is he thinks any black and white ones are photo copies. Not worth bothering with when walmart is no problem
