Has made me want to comment because this same thing happened to me and it was a cashier that gave me a hard time till I talked to the manager. I have shopped at the Safeway in Westwood Winnipeg for 20 years and I coupon all the time. I have found in the last year stores excepting coupons has been getting more difficult. I was wondering if this is a new policey with Safeway and if the company that are issuing the coupons are not honouring them
As per my Yelp Post, re: Safeway Royal Oak & Kingsway, Burnaby Bc:
Absolutely embarrassing for decent, respectable customers. I watch my hard-earned dollars. I shop specials and use coupons. I can understand this and only this Safeway store refuses to accept computer-printed manufacturer’s coupons. But tonight, I went to purchase 6 x Smuckers Jam on sale for $2.49 ea. I had 6 legitimate Canadian vendor coupons for $1.00 ea. They were not expired. They clearly stated 1 coupon per purchase (Note: NOT per transaction, I know the difference), and I was refused the ability to use these coupons. Not cool. The poor cashier called the manager over the phone after I refused to accept this asinine “store policy”. The manager didn’t have the balls to confront me, knowing full well I had the right to use these coupons. I was a cashier for 18 bloody years, I KNOW coupons. After treating me like crap and making stand and fight for my rights and having to raise my voice before all other customers to behold, ultimately, they accepted my measly $6. worth of coupons. But to what benefit to them?? Here I am on Yelp, telling the world about their shoddy treatment of customers, and I will not be stopping here. I follow MANY coupon sites, and you can be sure I will let every coupon-er know the treatment they can expect at this Safeway store. If that store is having troubles with their bottom line, I only hope their rude treatment earns them a store closure. I will definitely be taking my Safeway flyer with me to price-match elsewhere, after all, it it a lady’s prerogative.
I would like to know if you have chinesse fondue meat at your store.
21 NOV///I checked web for local flyers and found turkeys at Safeway for .59 cents a lb…After going there without copy but speaking to meat mgr at 7pm who advised he would honor if had copy. After returning with copy and finding that subject had gone home went to Customer Service who obliged by getting 2 turkeys, one for each of us. Young lady who was introduced as in charge, was summoned to customer service and refused acceptance of grocery flyer and refused to serve us and that she had that right and she stomped away leaving another gentleman with his mouth open. I am appalled at her attitude as I dealt with the public for 30 years and at no time would have reacted that way. I will deal with executive in AM…
We have been a Safeway customer copious years however that could be terminated…
Grade A frozen turkeys are on sale from September 19 until September 27 at Canada Safeway. These are the 7 kg and under size. The price is $0.99 a pound. This was not advertised in the flyer. It was advertised in local community papers as a one page advertisement. No coupon required.
