Today, we’ve got a new guest post, from Anna, owner of Bargainmoose.ca, the Canadian website specializing in online coupon codes and shopping deals. Anna is going to share some shopping tips to help you save on pet supplies.

There are two things in your house that will consume a lot of products – kids and pets! But fortunately, there are a few ways to save cash when buying supplies for the latter, which I am going to detail in this article. For the purposes of this text, the main focus would be on supplies for dogs and cats, with food costs being the particular expense that we are trying to reduce.
Follow the big brands
First of all, the number one thing that you can do to save some money on your pet supplies is to subscribe to the email newsletters of your favourite brands of pet products, such as Purina, Cesar, Pedigree, or any others you use on a regular basis. Once you’re on the mailing lists, you should start receiving coupons and deals which you can use for a discount in-store. Have a browse round their
websites too, as there are often coupons shown on the very front page.
Good email newsletters to join to get regular coupons and deals:
You can even follow these brands on twitter and facebook, where you can possibly find more
coupons.
Check the coupon sites
As many of you know, there are a number of Canadian sites from which you can order manufacturer coupons. Check in on these on a regular basis to see if there are any coupons for your favourite brands:
Grab some pet freebies
There are a few pet freebies that you can order online. Here’s a quick run-down of some of them:
- Multimenu free sample (dog)
- Purina ProPlan free samples (cat)
- Purina MyKitten Club freebies
- Purina MyPuppy Club freebies
- Humane Society free pet tags
- Halo freebies and coupons (just email stating what type of pet you have)
- ASPCA pet safety pack
All these freebies are confirmed as working in Canada, even though some are US based too.
Research optimum amounts to give your pet
You might have gotten into a routine of feeding your pet a certain amount each day – but are you aware that you could be over-feeding your pet? Each animal has different needs of course; the needs of a chihuahua are going to be quite different to the dietary needs of a Great Dane. Do a bit of research online and find out the guideline amounts to feed your pet, and try to stick to those. You
might be able to reduce your pet food bill in this fashion, and it will be better for the animal.
Other pet supplies
There are a wide variety of pets that you might have and many more online stores which you can use to help save.
Do you have any more pet supply saving tips to share?
