My wife and I attended the first day of the 2010 BC Foodservice Expo at the Vancouver Convention Centre as media attendees.
It was an amazing show today! So much energy and excitement.
The BC Chef’s Association presented two competitions promoting culinary excellence live on stage at the BC Foodservice Expo.
All new this year, 6-BC chefs competed in an appetizer-main-dessert knock-out series. Multiple black-box ingredients (all must be utilized) with 30 minutes to prepare.
It was great because we can see the chefs working hard with the mirrors above.
Additionally, there were hundreds of new and innovative products and services on display throughout the show.
Some of the highlights:
- Many microbreweries unveiling their new products.
- Talking to many of the food importers about new products and challenges and opportunities they saw.
- The unbelievable array of food samples and the unveiling of new products were an added benefit.
My wife and I saw wheat pasta with Chocolate made from Italy from Far-Met Importers.
We tasted a rich thick drinking chocolate, Choco-issimo by Musetti from Milan.
We tried some delicious italian antipastos from Gourmet Savories. I really enjoyed those because they did not contain much sodium (unlike many supermarket spreads).
We tried a refreshing Orange and Mango from Kiju.
It was a very exciting afternoon speaking with many different restaurant owners and food service owners and chefs.
Here are some of the photos:
