Co-Op Coupon Policy:
I wrote to Co-Op Head office, and this is the reply I received regarding their coupon policy:
I would like to request a copy of your coupon policy.
Can you please clarify your policy and answer these questions?
•What kinds of coupons do you accept? Manufacturer , store coupons, coupons at the check out, in the local news, flyer clip coupon, and special coupons at the check out.
•Do you offer store coupons? Where may I find them? Yes, we offer store coupons in our flyers, occasionally online, and in the weekend papers
•May I use a store coupon and a manufacturer coupon on one item? No, only one coupon per item
•Do you exclude any coupons? Ex: above $5 off, BOGO offers, coupons for free product? None are excluded
•Do you accept Internet Printable Coupons? May I print them in black and white? Yes, but just not for free items.
•Do you match competitor prices or take competitor coupons? No. We do not price match, but we do accept competitor coupons; if they have a stated price; not if the coupon has a percentage off.
•What is your policy on overage: when the value of the coupon exceeds the value of the product? We do not pay the overage to the customer.
•If the coupon exceeds the item’s value do you adjust the price of the coupon down? Ex: $1.00 off coupon on $0.97 cent product (Or do you provide the customer the 3 cents credit, as the manufacturer pays you the entire price anyway) No, we do not.
•Do you limit the number of coupons I may use per transaction? No limit per transaction, but One coupon per item limit.
•Do you employees understand “one coupon per purchase=one coupon per item”, not “one coupon per transaction”? Yes, all of our cashiers are well trained to understand this.
•Does your store ever double or triple coupons? Not as a rule, but they may run local promos such as this & advertise in the weekend paper or in their weekly flyers
•Concerning buy one get one offers. If your store runs a BOGO FREE promo, may I use 2 manufacturer coupons for the 2 products? Or may I only use one? No, One coupon only
•Are individual stores allowed to impose their own rules or vary from this policy? Each Co-op in a given city will have the same rules; but most co-ops Canada wide will always have similar rules.
